The best kids’ playground in Essex and London?

In Wildlife by admin

The Almost Wild Campsite is hosting Growing Wild during the summer hols – an outdoor summer club for kids aged 5-10 to learn bushcraft.
Youngsters can build dens, learn how to light fires, track animals, play outdoor games and create environmental art....or hang about in hammocks. Courses run from 9am - 4pm on Tuesday August 14 and Tuesday August 28 at a cost of £25 per child. Events are run by Tinder Sticks – www.tindersticks.org.uk –  a not for profit organisation dedicated to getting more people outdoors.

Almost Wild is open for adult campers at weekends across the summer. It was opened last summer by senior park ranger Gareth Winn, with the help of more than 100 volunteers. The  campsite sits on a small island that borders Hertfordshire and Essex, surrounded trees and water on three sides. Campers can hang hammocks, sleep in bivvies or tents and make use of open fires set into each pitch.
